Kelvin MacDonald & Associates will promote the aims and practice of sustainable community building in all the projects we undertake and the advice that it gives. Sustainable communities embody principles of democratic accountability and community involvement, fairness, environmental sustainability and equitable economic development.
Kelvin MacDonald & Associates will seek to reduce the firm’s own environmental impact to the minimum achievable through the following means:
- Use of materials - to use materials which are recycled, which come from as local sources as possible, which are sourced ethically and which contribute to a reduction in global in-equality;
- Recycling - to recycle all materials where this is the most sustainable way of disposal;
- Minimising the need for travel - to use phone, e-mail, the company’s website and video conferencing wherever possible
- Using the most carbon efficient means of travel - to walk, cycle or use public transport for local journeys and to use the train for journeys on mainland Britain and, wherever possible, elsewhere;
- Offsetting - to offset necessary air and car travel through the use of schemes which offset personal carbon use;
- Premises - to ensure that the premises used by the Company are as energy efficient as possible;
- Promoting - to promote the reduction of environmental impact wherever possible through the work of the Company.
In fulfilling these commitments Kelvin MacDonald & Associates will adhere to the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Code of Professional Conduct and will, therefore:
- act with competence, honesty and integrity;
- fearlessly and impartially exercise our independent professional judgement to the best of our skill and understanding;
- discharge our duty to our clients, colleagues and others with due care and diligence in accordance with the provisions of the Code;
- not discriminate on the grounds of race, sex, sexual orientation, creed, religion, disability or age and shall seek to eliminate such discrimination by others and to promote equality of opportunity;
- not bring the profession or the Royal Town Planning Institute into disrepute.
